I think the redevelopment of Stevenage will be hugely beneficial...
…It's so handy for shops and lots of new commercial development such as Laura Ashley only seem to highlight this. Green areas, lots of amenities and brilliant commuting to London and the North.
My husband and I left London for here four years ago and nothing would make us move back!

It is a safe place to live with excellent amenities…
…You also still get a decent enough house for your money. Its not fancy but very practical.

Excellent roads - affordable services…
…The large corporations have noticed the benefits of the area - B+Q, Costa, Pizza Express, Laura Ashley. This town is on the up.

I moved to Stevenage from London about three years ago and I find it a lovely place to live...
...Great access to London and Cambridge.
Lots to do for old and young, alike. The town centre is due for re-development/updating and if it is done well should be a great asset.
House prices are rising so if you're thinking of moving in, now would be the time, before the prices become as inflated as London and the surrounding area.

I strongly believe Stevenage is an excellent place to buy…
…Good facilities - the best transport links in the South East. It's still affordable - but the town centre needs a total overhaul. When this happens I think Stevenage will become a small city - not just a town.

Cycle tracks make this town pretty safe for kids to get to school ...
... and there's lots of other leisure facilities. The town centre however is a disgrace - shame on you Stevenage Borough Council for not securing sponsorship and funding to bring this area up to scratch.

The most affordable town in the south east with excellent commuter links ...
... The town centre is bit of a let down - but with easy access to places such as Cambridge and Hertford it's not too much of a problem.
Stevenage is also one of the few places in the south east where they still build freehold property - but no doubt not for much longer.

Close to London and affordable - excellent access to Cambridge and surrounding areas ...
... As someone who owns a property in London I can strongly say that Stevenage has the best commuter route in the south east.

Moved from Borehamwood to Stevenage few months ago ...
... I'm largely unhappy about the fact that there are not a lot of good schools in the area, but houses are still affordable and there's no shortage of Leisure facilities for everyone.

Stevenage is fantastic!
It's got everything you need close by and beats the more expensive towns nearby like Welwyn Garden City, Letchworth and Hitchin hands down for amenities.
Martin's Wood is one of the best areas to live in - there are loads of great houses there, it's quiet and a nicely looked after area.
Great Ashby's just one great big glorified housing estate to be honest - yes, nice houses; but small - and they lack solid walls. You're better off buying something older in Martin's Wood, if you're lucky enough to find one as they sell like hotcakes.

Stevenage can be a good place to live if you can afford a quality house in a private development...
It has great local shops, leisure activities and plenty of things to do, social clubs, music in pubs, Gordon Craig Theatre and so on.
It has lots of brilliant towns nearby i.e. Cambridge is only 40 minutes drive away. Hertford is only 10 minutes by train and has loads of old worldly pubs serving Real Ale. The local bus service is excellent.
The A1 gets you out and about quickly to the rest of the country and the fastest trains reach London in less than 20 minutes.
Sure it has its downsides, but the local council take a pride in the town and do everything to make it a pleasant place to live.

Stevenage is great if you have small children...
Everything is easy to access for prams and stuff, pedestrianised etc. Also good if you like green spaces and footpaths, you can access greenery and parkland close by wherever you live in Stevenage.
There are also great cycle paths if you want to do the healthy option. It's also well served for retail therapy - not clothes shopping necessarily - but diy, toys, furniture - loads of stuff on retail parks.
Stevenage is functional but not stylish!

Stevenage centre is not a nice place but ...
... they are redeveloping apparently in the next few years. The Great Ashby development is a really attractive housing estate and regarded as the more upmarket area to live in Stevenage. Old Town Stevenage is even better, although it's pricey

I previously lived in Stevenage for four years and left to live in Richmond in S-W London...
Although not a local myself I feel I know the town/city very well and to me the place has a very large appeal. The town(s), old and new, have a broad array of facilities, cinema, theatre, swimming pool etc. The area seemed to be constantly improving with very smart industrial development and proposals for a redesigned new town.
The old town abutting to the new has some lovely character pubs and quality restaurants. Transport links are superb - super fast train links to London and the north east and great London airport accessibility and also road links via A1M and M25. Paul.
