... serving the needs of the area together with specialist outlets which are great to browse. The town has good parking and is well served with places to lunch - modern and quaint at the same time.

As a place to live Maldon has a great community sprit with several organised town events throughout the year. On these occasions you really feel part of it even though you may just be watching from the sidelines. It also makes a great destination for a day out.

... The high street is filled with smaller versions of some high street chains and some fantastic independent retailers. As other reviews have mentioned, there are plenty of places to enjoy a good meal.

Walks along the promenade are lovely now all the renovation has been completed. A trip along the estuary in one of the old boats is a must. A fantastic place to live within easy reach of larger Essex towns. Marvellous if you are looking to bring up children.

... I moved there when I was 6, moved to Dorset when I was 16. Now I'm 19, and I'm moving back to Maldon. The people are lovely, and it's such a nice environment.

With a very unimaginative district council that needs to be replaced by a body that will attract business into the town and surrounding area.

It is a lovely area to live in especially around the Blackwater Estuary.

Nice big promenade with parks, play ground and sea wall. Lots to do i.e. bowling, snooker club/alley/leisure centres with pools, gyms and classes.

Plenty of primary schools to choose from and a secondary school specialising in performing arts. Pubs and posh wine bar also available.

Overall a nice area.

Word on the Street: Maldon

It has rural surrounding areas and is estuary-based. It has a beautiful promenade and a large selection of shops. It is well based for railways and good road access to the A12. It has 2 large supermarkets, bowling alley, leisure facilities and good selction of schools. It offers fun and relaxation to both the young and those wishing to retire. If you like good food and like a good haircut there is both in plentiful supply.

There is also a select number of public houses. It is fairly quiet with town and village-based locations. We are very happy and so are our children. The GP surgeries and hospitals are excellent too if you need them!
