I completely agree with everyone's comments. My fiancee and I moved from London 2 months ago and have found the area fantastic in all aspects ...
... Rochester has the River Medway, countless Bars, Restaurants, Parks, not to mention the Castle and Cathedral. Very friendly people (which was a culture shock after living in London). And it’s a 45 - 55 minute commute by car or train - what more could you want!

We moved to Rochester from London last autumn and haven't looked back ...
House prices are unbelievably reasonable and we now commute to Victoria in 45 minutes. We return home to a place with a great sense of community. We love the old high street with its market town feel -a castle and cathedral, independent shops and plenty of decent pubs, restaurants and bars.
We've found there is a lot going on here too including a small theatre and regular plays, festivals and major concerts (sometimes in the castle). The river is great for walks into the country.
Rochester also has the Grammar school system and there is good access by car to numerous major shopping centers including Bluewater and Dockside... we can't fault it so far!

I live in Rochester, having moved from central London, but still work in Canary Wharf - driving in every day ...
It takes around 40 minutes driving, which is quicker than my journey when I lived in London. Everything I need is here: parks, riverside walks, castle, restaurants, bars, nightclub and cafés. Dover is also 30-40 minutes drive which makes day trips to France very easy.
Sometimes I feel I'm living hours away from London. This city is so quaint and quiet with an old fashioned bakery (fantastic fresh bread) and traditional, very old shops.

Who wouldn't like to live in the city that Dickens himself wrote about?...
This quaint English city is one in a million and take it from someone who has travelled, you will rarely see such a beautiful city again. If you have the chance to live there, I recommend it from my heart. It is an amzing and vibrant city.

Historic city with a castle and a cathedral...
...and also worth a visit is the fantastic Guildhall Museum in the High Street. Come to Rochester for its antique shops. Never go hungry here, lots of places to eat from a cafe to a restaurant. Morleys is the best bakery in the area (it's opposite Destiny's) & is in the high street. Lots to do and see in this wonderful historic city.
