I have been living in Barking for the past seven years and I have no regrets at all moving here…
…The neighbourhoods are very generous and the crime rates are very low which make me feel very secure.

I have lived in Barking for more than 10 years and I have noticed a lot of changes for the better recently ...
... There is more visible policing, the area is a lot cleaner. Pubs and clubs that are known to be havens for drug dealers have been closed down.
There are lots of new homes being built, and many of these have already been sold!
City airport, Canary Wharf and the City are all minutes away, as are Lakeside Thurrock, Romford and Ilford shopping centres.

I have lived in barking for 15 years...
House prices are good value but go up steadily, good transport and road links.
It'll never be posh but people on the whole are friendly and there are definite improvements going on environmentally.

I bought a flat 12 months ago and it has been a fine place to live...
Some great upcoming developments.. Council seem to have things well planned..Demolition orders now in place for some of the 50's 60's council blocks, to be replaced with some great areas... The Olympics are just around the corner... A good future investment!

Great value property, served by the District line and C2C to London...
Good shopping in nearby Inford and Romford. Lakeside is not so far either!
Barking (& Dagenham) will allways offer the cheapest property in London as this working class area has the lowest wage earners. However, most of the locals are decent people.

Very good. Low crime rate...
Served by good road network like North Circular Road (A406), close to M11 for Standsted airport, A13 being seriously improved to central London. Apart from the Council Tax, this is a beautiful town. UNCONGESTED also.

Lots of immigrants are boosting the local economy...
...police are now beginning to be seen more on the streets with an increase from 5 to 8 patrolling officers and the large proportion of council right-to-buy properties put on the market makes this a good investment area.

We bought our house in Barking in September last year...
We were unsure about what the market would do, but figured anything would be better than renting, and we liked the fact that Barking had good train connections to pretty much anywhere. We paid £116,000 for our house and after improvements it is now worth £190,000. So I guess the boom has now hit the area! We love it in Barking and would recommend it to anyone, especially those wanting to escape West London/City prices!

Barking & Dagenham like everywhere has its good and its bad areas...
The bad are having monies invested and the good areas are great value for money as most are spacious. It's ideally located for travel to the City & further West, and shops - Barking, Ilford, Romford, Lakeside & even Bluewater are within 25 minutes' drive. There's numerous green spaces/parks which we need to encourage the kids to use & look after. It can't be too long for the property boom to hit the area.

We bought a house in Barking 2 years ago...
...and I find it very friendly...it seems to have got a bit better over the past year...we do need some sort of system for the rubbish...like wheely bins...as the rubbish does seem to get thrown all about the streets.

I bought a flat in Barking over a year ago...
The area has significantly improved and there is a £12 million investment planned for the town centre.
I think it was one of those places that couldn't get any worse and it is getting better. The property is going up in price and a lot of developers are building there.
The shops are OK and Illford is just round the corner. It's on the District and Hammersmith and City line and has overline trains, so 10 minutes to Fenchurch Street.
