... Safe, with easy connections to London. South Downs and Goodwood 2 miles away, sea 4 miles. Heaven - who needs more!

... People are open, honest and friendly. It's also very well run; I have no objections to paying my council tax (even to a solid Tory seat), but please don't put it up!

It is also very pleasant to shop, socialise and move around - limited stress. Take note town planners: a car free centre is the model to emulate.

Lovely housing stock, relatively expensive, but a great investment.

It's an amazing CITY (notice city in caps) and I recommend a day trip in to the heart of Chichester. Everyone who lives in Chichester has a friendly outlook on life.

We now are the proud parents of Chichester University, a vast college with 2 sports centres.

Chichester is a Roman city and full of history with our own set of roman walls and cathedral. We also have our own theatre and Cineworld along with Bowlplex, and 2 clubs - the nightlife is wicked... come and join us and try us out for yourselves

I often walk through the beautiful parks and think how lovely it is to live here. It is full of beautiful old town houses and country cottages.

It's safe and quiet but at the same time has decent transport links and lots to do for all ages, especially since the construction of the leisure park Chichester Gate.

...(what clothes shops there are mainly cater for the 'country gent'), but great pubs and bars. Saturday shopping mainly consists of dodging public school boy 'punks' on skateboards and being offered the Big Issue. Great place otherwise.

...there are a range of decent shops and restaurants, and the South Downs are situated just to the north of the city. However, the area to the south of Chichester is a rather depressing section of coast, badly cut off and home to numerous caravan and retirement parks.

It's a beautiful little city, fortunate to have a cathedral, and gothic market cross, several old buildings and a town wall. The people are friendly, often snobbish (if that's a good thing) and most of us have something of a superiority complex.

The only disadvantage is that it is too far from London for most people to want to commute from. However, this also means that the surrounding countryside is unspoiled. West Sussex harbours some beautiful little vilages.
