…You have the benefit of better rail links than Reigate with more everyday shops in Redhill. If you still want to eat / drink out in Reigate of an evening it is only a 20 - 25 minutes walk or 4 - 5 in a cab. Plus the houses are slightly cheaper in Redhill.

Best of both worlds!

... but is definitely not suitable for any young, single person under the age of 35 looking for a great social life. A car is needed should anyone choose to live here.

There is plenty of variety in the style of housing, from 1 bed flats either in elegant conversions, or purpose built, through 30s semis, to large Edwardian villas. Recent and ongoing efforts to improve the town centre are paying off, with redevelopment revitalising the southern end of the high street. We have a good, if small, mall, and a weekly market; a library and theatre complex; a swimming pool and sports centre; good primary and improving secondary schools; mixed pubs and restaurants; golf clubs; nearby aqua sports centre; an aerodrome; and lots of trees and open space. Reigate is just down the road with more shopping, entertainment and dining establishments, and State and independent schools. Public transport is good, with frequent rail connections to London, Croydon, Gatwick and Brighton, as well as Tonbridge and Guildford. Lots of sports and arts opportunities for adults and children.

...brought up two children and both went to state schools, Earlswood, Warwick and Reigate College. Reigate & Redhill have many sports activities/clubs football, rugby, cricket, tennis, plus youth orchestras - the list goes on and on. Good location for easy commuting via train or M25. Excellent pubs and restaurants within easy reach, good affordable taxis, there is also a watersports centre 2 miles from Redhill, I could go on - but then obviously I am biased.

If you haven't been banned from driving, you are close to the M25/23. It's far enough outside London to be close to some decent countryside, but far enough outside to be away from the urban sprawl. Okay, it's not exactly Leicester Square, but you've got all the main shops, and some decent bars and restaurants a few minutes away in Reigate and it's a lot cheaper than my last pad in the Docklands. Good place for renting rooms out. I've had Air Stewardesses, pilots and City types renting off me.

Affordable housing. Nice parks. Poor range of bars and quality restaurants. Close to Gatwick. Quiet. Close to M25. No hassle. We moved down from Wimbledon and find it peaceful and nice but miss the bars occasionally.

... that Redhill needs a lot more facilities for teenagers like myself. There are very few good shops for us in the shopping centre and the cinema only has one screen. I try to spend all my free time elsewhere, in Crawley for instance.

We really need something else to keep us occupied in our spare time. Maybe somewhere to go bowling or ice-skating for example. I know that the council is on a tight budget, even if it means improving the leisure centre to have something like a water slide or a diving board. There really is nothing for us that doesn't mean spending a fortune on getting it.

I have lived here for ten years now and it has not been improved at all. When a report was written on the town recently, they said that there was nothing for anyone under the age of fifty. I completely agree and something should be done about it.
