Hampton Wick - Word on the street
Word On The Street: Hampton Wick

We moved here last year, and haven't looked back ...
... It's a fantastic place to live - a real local feel, and very friendly (4 neighbours came to say hi the day we moved in). Train service is good, Bushy Park and the river fantastic for running, bikes and walking - and great to be just over the bridge from Kingston, but not in Kingston.
Pubs excellent - local late night store could improve its range of chocolate, but apart from that I can't complain!

Not true that there is no off licence in Hampton Wick...
There is a shop selling alcohol in Vicarage Road and a grocers' shop in the High Street which is open for long hours and sells alcohol. There are also quite a few pubs too.

I moved here in July, after some careful research about London...
- a move from 'up North' to London is fairly fraught, so I chose the location carefully. So far, so very good - Bushy Park is exceptional, Kingston has so many shops that I wouldn't even consider shopping in the city, and I'm also blessed with a river view (albeit next to train lines and late night booze cruises...)
I have a flat which I couldn't hope to rival nearer town. A few minor gripes though - shops are limited in the extreme (no off licence!), and there is no (at least not yet) cashpoint. However, a regular and fairly quiet train to Waterloo helps.
Overall, I would recommend Hampton Wick to anyone thinking of settling in London, or looking to move out of the City - its relatively quiet, great pubs, decent transport links (24 hour buses to Heathrow at only 70p), and retains a kind of villagey feel.

It provides us with a chance to live outside...
...but near to the brilliant shops of Kingston and the park and the river are on either side of our avenue. For location and convenience you coudn't beat it as the trains are frequent and empty enough for a nice relaxing commute every morning. It always seems sunny there!

A superb location, close to Kingston...
...but it retains its village atmosphere. People actually know their neighbours - and care about them! Bushy and Home Park add to the quality of life whilst London with all its attractions is only 30 minutes away. Plus it`s jam packed with wild life, including badgers!

Hampton Wick provides the luxury of having the acres of Bushy Park on your doorstep whilst providing the convenience of a major shopping centre a few minutes walk away....
This, added together with the many local village shops and a frequent railway service mean that you can enjoy the luxury of countryside living whilst having easy access to Kingston and central London.

Hampton Wick is a great place for families to live...
We are a 2 minute walk from the library, 5 minutes from Kingston shopping centre, 2 minutes from Bushey and Home parks and 10 minutes from some great local schools for all ages. This together with the friendly local shops, bars and restaurants makes Hampton Wick the ideal place to live.

Hampton Wick is an oasis of calm (pretentious comment, I know) in South West London...
With Bushy Park providing an excellent area for recreation and Kingston only 5-10 minutes walk, it has some of the best facilities immediately available and yet, it still has the feel of a Village. There are enough local shops for daily items and the train service is as good as any lines nearby.
I intended to buy a property in Twickenham, but prices forced me to look further afield. Now I wouldn't move to Twickenham if you paid me (no offence). Hampton Wick is a much better area and better value as well.

Living in Hampton Wick is amazing...
The train connections are frequent and faster than most zone 4 areas, the shopping in Kingston (5 minute walk) is amazing, and Hampton Court Palace is a 10 minute walk away through beautiful Bushy Park.
Much nicer than Twickenham or Teddington.
