A recent Co-operative Bank survey looked at people's attitudes to buying and selling, and their reasons for moving in the current housing market

Here are the key findings:

  • A third of respondents (35 per cent) are not prepared to drop their asking price at all in the current housing market.
  • Only one in ten respondents would offer full asking price on the property they are looking to buy (12 per cent).
  • Lack of space (27 per cent) was the biggest reason given for people wanting to move home.
  • Most respondents were looking for a detached house (28 per cent), with only nine per cent looking for terraced houses.
  • Over half (54 per cent) said they had become more optimistic about the housing market recently, with a third (29 per cent) stating that this optimism had started within the last month.
