British Bankers' Association (BBA) July 2009 Key Statistics

 
  • Gross mortgage lending in July 2009 totalled £8.4 billion, up from £8.1 billion in June but lower than the previous six months average of £8.6 billion.
  • Annually, this equalled a decline of 39.2 per cent from July 2008. 
  • Loans for house purchase stood at £5.2 billion, up from £4.7 billion in June and higher than the previous six months average of £3.8 billion.
  • Annually, this was a 79.1 per cent increased from July 2008.
  • There were 38,181 loans approved for house purchase in July, up from 35,564 in June and 76.7 per cent higher than last July's figure.
  • The average value of a loan approved for house purchase in July was £139,700.
